Easy Spring Home Decor Ideas

Sunny days and spring blooms are here! Now's the time to give your home a boost. Here are some easy ways to refresh your home's decor and shop locally.

Spruce Up Your Front Porch

It's amazing what a few colorful flower pots can do to enhance your home's exterior. Check out this great assortment of pots from Bainbridge Gardens. We also love Valley Nursery's options in Poulsbo. Set out  a few flower pots now with tulips, violas, and other spring blooming flowers and then separately plant summer blooming flowers like dahlias and lilies to swap out when they're ready. Other great ways to set a fun spring tone include purchasing a new door mat, hanging a dried flower wreath, or finding the perfect wind chime.

Update Your Lighting

A quick way to literally brighten your home is to start using LED light bulbs. There are many different types and they  convert 95% energy into light. In contrast, incandescent light bulbs only convert 10% of energy into light and the rest is wasted as heat. So you can reduce your utility bill while making your home feel more cheery.

When examining the lighting in a particular room, be sure to look at any ways you might be able to rearrange things to let in more natural light. This will make smaller spaces feel more spacious. Replace heavier winter drapery with lighter curtains to ensure you're letting in as much sunlight as possible.

Use Colors Strategically

Never underestimate the power of color. From soft pinks and yellows to bold pops of cobalt blue and magenta, a room's decor can really set the tone. Pick up some new throw pillows, linens or placemats to say hello to spring. We recommend heading over to Furnish Bainbridge for a variety of options and inspiration.

White and neutral colors are also a great way to make a room feel new. They can brighten a space, especially on sunny days, and they help accent colors really shine. And, if you're wanting to update a room, Dana's Showhouse on Bainbridge Island has beautiful furniture. We also recommend Silverdale's Eclectic Home Furnishings, which has many eye-catching pieces as well.

Update Your Patio

What better way to celebrate warmer weather than to update your patio? That doesn't necessarily require a totally new patio furniture set. In fact, even adding a new side table or replacing your outdoor pillows and cushions can make a huge difference. Other fun ways to give your patio a fresh feel include adding a fountain, bird bath, or a festive string of outdoor lights. If you have space to spare, consider adding a couple of fruit trees to provide shade and a sweet bounty. We love the many options that Bainbridge's Bay Hay and Feed offers as well as Kingston's Savage Plants and Landscape.

How ever you choose to brighten your home, we hope you enjoy this vibrant time of year!
